The Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan along with most Provincial Insurance coverage has limits on the services that are covered relating to forms, and non-urgent procedures. These are referred to as “uninsured services.”
These are sometimes covered by third party insurance companies, lawyers, government agencies, or employers, but most often they are the responsibility of the patient.
Due to the time, effort and expertise required to complete these forms and procedures by the physician and clinical staff, there are costs associated to cover the requirements of completing these services.
The doctor or clinic staff will make you aware of any fees before completing the forms or procedure with you. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the cost of these services, you can discuss with your physician or clinical staff.
